I study the modal analysis of a ballscrew drive with the balls in nut included. What can be the best contact settings for balls to screw and balls to nut contact? Can you help me?
How is brake squeal analysis handled in Ansys with respect to contacts? The frictional contact between disc and pads introduces some additional matrices. Only the closed contacts should be glued in normal direction, though.
thank you for your answer. So does the contact type matter? WhenI try different contact types, it gives me different results. I just want the balls to behave like linear springs. There is no nonlinear effect considered in my analysis. the balls are always considered as touching the screw and the nut.
The best method currently is to use other tools - like BEARINGS - to calculate the initial spring stiffness for the given load situation. Then use this NL calculation results as linear settings for the Ansys Model.
Please keep in mind that the ball - raceway stiffness is a function of the axial load, alignement etc...
You could ask the ball bearing manufacturer fo a table - to get at least a fealing for the load - stiffness dependency.
