Concerning PCOS and Acne?
I am the guy from the Derm-dagen in the Spring in Arnhem? I was talking about Lyonization and the need to address the issues of PCOS, which are epigenetics and not genetic in origin. I was at the RSM organized PCOS event on Saturday in London. One of the key speakers was Prof. S. Franks at Imperial. Sadly I didn't agree with alot of what he said about the value of genetic analysis. However, nor did I find that he was very aware of your work on acne, and this is a major problem for PCOS females. Do you know him, would it be possible for you to reach out, because he is a key individual int he development of PCOS care within the UK, but I think he should be made aware of you work?
Root in endocrinology yes, the classical sense we understand it well enough, but not in terms of epigenetics and proteomics, which is why I call it a phenotype, in the endocrine sense, but not a genotype. I am also unhappy with the Lean phenotype model, as the women that diet and are lean are more fertility, even to normal population standards with low BMI levels while the more weighty women are sub fertility. The additional adipose tissue of PCOS its a risk in pregnancy. So the origin of IR in the adipose, as endocrine organ seems to defeat the purpose of a lean phenotype. However, I have that problem with Barker too. There are America endocrinologists that say the original adaption was for slow moving and slow digesting primates, and that the high metabolic modern humans have managed to engineer solutions, tools, cloths and building, which have defeated process of adaptation.
