We are planning to conduct a survey to our community. We wanted to know their overall Mental Health. What specific questionnaire will you suggest for us to utilize?
I used and validated two depression questionnaires that you can see in my manuscript, however they are in Spanish. I attach the manuscript if it helps, let me know and I will send you the protocol with the annexes.
Article Depressive symptoms in a university population in Colombia: ...
I think, not only the general questions considering mental health in the community, but the questions of more tolerance to already mental patients understanding of their world have to be included. The questions of who help them, and the problems of those, who help the mental disorders having in everyday life, also have to be included.
I suggest to include general questions on the persons object of the survey. Who are they? Their jobs? Marital status? Children? An idea on their revenues? Have they underwent shocks, grieving? If so when? Their diet (vegetarian, vegan...) and their way of eating (share of fruits and vegetables, sweets, processed food, meats, oils, which oils...), do they eat at home or outside, alone or with others? at fixed hours?... Their way of living (sport, regular activities, social activities). Relations with the family (the close and the large one) and with neighbours. I think, but it is the opinion of a non-specialist, that it is important to look at the person as a whole and that the mental health of someone is related to who he/she is, who he/she wants to be, with whom he/she lives and interacts, how he/she lives, even if at first glance, all this seems to be far from the object of the study. Good luck.
