I have two questions. There are different available cell lines to create animal models of cancers. In the case of melanoma, there are different melanoma cell lines for instance melanoma B16F10 (metastatic), B16F0 (non-metastatic), which all derived from C57Bl/6 mice. Is there any data base for cell lines which explains each cell line in detail? May two closely related cell lines (e.g B16F10 and B16F0) differently response to a treatment?
Yes, Vahid. There-se a cell line data base online where you can find information about those cell lines.

Dear Vahid,
The B16F10 melanoma model is issued from the B16 parental model and results from multiple selection of metastatic cells in mice.
The B16F10 model is very aggressive at the biological level (as detailed in the attached articles by Mathieu V. et al.), much more than the B16F0, which remains close to the parental B16 one and grow slowly s.c.
The two attached articles from I.J. Fidler detail how these models were established in his lab.

I have worked on these two models. Done the MTT assay of my cationic peptide and found a lot of difference between the %viability of both the cell lines after treatment. The peptide has not shown much effect on B16-F10 cell line. However, we got good effect of peptide on B16-F0

Hi All,
I have B16F10 cell lines that I kept them in (-80) for about 2 weeks before I transferd them to liquid nitrogen , is it ok to still use these cell lines ? because i have read that ususally people keep them (24-48) hrs at -80 then from there they transfer them to liquid nitrogen, so I am not sure that two weeks at (-80) how much would affect on these cell lines and their behaviour? let me know if anyone have an idea about that
