I would like to analyse HPV in specific tumour and a suspected snp associated with the cancer. It is difficult to find control samples from tissue because hpv is usually detected in the infected tissue. I wonder how can I do case control study in this case? or should I chose a different design? can anyone help me please?

Maybe try study the prevalence (or level) of exposure to a specific factor " you choices" in different groups e.g ( different nationalities) then measured in each group If the prevalence of exposure among cases and controls is different , it is possible to infer that the exposure may be associated with an increased or decreased in the different nationalities to occurrence of the outcome of interest .

In my opinion the best will be logistic regression calculating odds ratio (OD) with confidence interval ( CI) If Od is more than 1.0 the analysed factor is a risk factor.

My opinion the best will be both simple and multiple linear regression analysis after find out firstly total score for each category
