A knock out mouse essentially means that a gene which was of interest has been removed in the mouse and thus we would expect to see absence of its role and thus a get a probabilistic view of the gene .
2.Knock out mouse models are made by making a vector that has the potential to be integrated into the ES cell genome and can be deleted by homologous recombination.Then these cells are injected into mouse embryos and chimeras which contain these cells as carriers of the genome will give birth to mice where the gene has been deleted.
CRISPR,TALEN,ZFN are all various ways of generating these mice.
3.We could either delete a part of the gene or whole of a gene in these models and thus generate a disease representative in mice then understanding and pointing out the various symptoms of the disease would be possible also drug testing could be used to get respite from these diseases.
