Welding or adhesive bonding or mechanical fastening like riveting etc. is usually done in joining metals. Even electrically conductive adhesive bonds are available. Can it be possible to join metals without these conventional means and without involving heating?
Also, is it possible to avoid HILTI type anchoring technology?
There are several ways to join metals. The first one, to connect their lattices with energy input (heat, mechacal or combination). The next is using intermediate layer (glue, etc.). The last but not least is mechanical (bolts, screw, ...). Other ways may be exist but I am not sure that in this world...

Connections of two materials can also be accomplished by high pressure compression and frequency oscillation or rotation. This method is applicable in most cases when a good relationship is required between the two homogeneous or heterogeneous materials. An example of this is the coupling of Cu or Al conductors. Al can be connected with Cu. This results in less transient resistance and hence less heat in the connections of the power lines.

I think, Shrink-fit is one way. Suppose two steel rods of diameter D are to be joined. A short-length hollow steel cylinder (ring) of inner-diameter lesser than D is taken and heated so that expanded inner diameter now is greater than D and then the rods are inserted in the heated cylinder from either side. After cooling, the two rods will be rigidly held together by force of compression exerted by the shrunk ring.
