Just curious if there can be somaclonal variation in direct organogenesis or not; because in direct organogenesis i.e. from explant to shoot and  then root occurs directly without the intermediate callus phase. But still everything occurs in artificial growth mediums; which I feel may have a tendency to induce somaclonal variation. Please explain and justify. Thank you
