By 2010 the Blue Brain project was expected to “challenge the foundations of our understanding of intelligence and generate new theories of consciousness”. It didn't happen and sadly the funding for the entire human brain in silico (Human Brain Project , HBP) came as a reward for failure.

At that time only a few scientists agreed that EU was going to invest in the wrong approach http://neuroelectrodynamics.blogspot.com/p/from-spike-timing-dogma-to.html . Today many scientists are boycotting HBP http://neurofuture.eu
