I know that camR inhibits Chloramphenicol via expression of chloramphenicol acetyltransferase, but could that transferase also inhibit Streptomycin, or maybe interact with it in someway that alters the antibiotics' function?
Quick stupid question : how long was your incubation time?
Streptomycin itself hardly kills the bacteria, it only slows down considerably their growth. if you leave a plate long enough at 37c, colonies will still form eventually. if you left your plates over the weekend at 37c it will essentially look like a normal overnight transformation.
