Hi there,

I have purchased Abeta42 from Bachem (1 mg). Usually, I use HFIP (hexafluoroisopropanol) to monomerize the protein, and after this, I always check if it is aggregating over time (fluorescence assay with ThT). Typically, it does aggregate, but this time it looks like disaggregation instead, showing a decreasing curve instead of increasing. I bought another mg of Abeta42 and proceeded in the same way. The behavior of the peptide was also the same: no aggregation.

The strangest thing is that, after lyophilization to remove all the HFIP used, the mass of the protein increases to 5-9 mg, when the initial mass was just 1 mg. I contacted Bachem and they sent me another mg of the protein. Same results. And this time the quality was guaranteed by Bachem, so the problem is not the protein. Any ideas?

Thanks a lot :)
