My lab screens water samples for Legionella. This bacteria popped up and we have never seen anything like it. These colonies grew on BCYE agar plate containing glycine, cycloheximide, vancomycin, and polymyxin B. The sample was treated with a KOH/HCl acid wash pH 2 for 10 minutes. It also requires cysteine to survive.

While we have supplies to detect and confirm Legionella, we are unable to do any other microbiological tests on bacteria.
