We do culture AML cells in SFEM (Serum free expansion medium; Stem Cell Tech) with or without G-CSF (10ng/ml). Alternatively you may use IMDM with Human Albumin (or BSA) (7.5%) and 50micro M b-mercaptoethanol. This is OK for short-term culture of AML cells.

Thanks for your suggestion Farid. I ment ofcourse primary leukemic cells from patients and not cell lines.

We use cell free conditioned medium from HS-5 cells (ATCC). HS-5 cells secrete all kinds of goodies (cytokines) that AML seem to like. This should allow you to maintain primary AML cells for at least 5-7 days in great condition.
