Yes Kanika, there is no need for supercoiled DNA when transforming bacteria or yeast cells. You can very easily transform yeast cells with linear DNA fragments and also E. coli but much less easily.
As Philippe said, you can use these forms to transform competent bacteria. In fact, most supercoiled preps become less supercoiled (and more linear or relaxed) upon long storage in the freezer. But be aware that supercoiled plasmids transform much more efficiently.
