If plastic disposable spoons from shop are used to take food after handwashing, but without washing the spoon, can it spread COVID 19, if spoon is contaminated?
The virus lasts up to 24 hours on paper and cardboard and between 2-3 days on plastic and stainless steel.
COVID-19 can be found on both disposable and reusable materials, and plastic is one of the materials on which it survives longest.
In theory, any object brought into a public space either by customers or workers could have the virus on it.
Restaurants and retail food service are among the most highly regulated businesses in terms of public health. Existing state food safety codes are based on FDA Guidance to States. State food safety codes require extensive ware washing and sanitizing at high heat that meets the level of hygiene
It is not known for sure how long this new coronavirus survives on surfaces, but it seems to be behaving like other coronaviruses. Studies and preliminary information on COVID-19 suggest that coronaviruses can persist on surfaces for a few hours to several days. This may also depend on other parameters such as ambient temperature or humidity. Plastic and steel are the surfaces with the longest virus viability. A recent American study has shown that the Covid-19 virus can remain viable and infectious from several hours to several days on different surfaces: Up to 72 hours, or 3 days, on plastic.
I doubt whether COVID can last for days in plastic. Whether it remains stable for so long depends on several factors such as temperature, humidity. Whether interhandling of plastic materials can spread COVID remains doubtful as studies which were done the virus was inoculated artificially. Whether it lasts so long by natural spread of the virus remains doubtful.
