I am gathering some research-based data supporting a specific way of developing a sample training course in translation. My question: Is it possible for me to just propose the design based on prior research without implementing it? Or am I required to implement it and see the results?
Background: I do not subscribe to the positivists' ideology of 'verification' but adhere more to the constructivists' 'falsification' principle.
In my opinion it can. Even these previous studies will be a proof that it can or cannot be implemented. It is good that the ministries of education of the countries can have proof of the viability of the application of a curricular program, before implementing it.
It is possible to assess the theoretical principles on which it is founded and draw inferences about the validity of its construction. On the other hand, you can implement it and report the results objectively, and this is a new task.
It is a proposal, you can, it will be theoritical framework based on which the implementation will be done.
There is a desk research that is written and does not require a field application
It is difficult to answer this question without knowing the hypothesis you will be testing in your study. Also, what research question/s are you trying to answer with your study? From the question you have asked, I think the nature of your research is non-experimental (literature review), however, I am not completely sure.
You can write a research paper but you have to implement it as a trial and see its impact.Here you have to specify the reasons for having done this design and justify your work
Without actually doing data collection, you would be writing a conceptual paper. Some journals will accept conceptual papers and some will not.
