I intend to sample PM10 and 2.5 and analyze it for metals (using AAS) and ions (using Ion Chromatography). Will it be possible to sample on PTFE filter paper, divide it in two, extract it and use for both analysis? Any reference(s) would be highly appreciated.
I think this will be a source of high error if you decided to make a cut before sample collection. On the other hand, if you tried to cut it after sample collection, there will be also a high risk of losing part of the sample. I suggest a non-destructive test like XRF followed by AAS measurement for confirmation.
It has been done and reported as well. You can cut it. But make sure you do it nicely because PTFE filters are not easy to cut unlike quartz filters. see below
