I need to overexpress my protein and I normally transfect the cells with mitochondrial Ds-Red for microscopy. Can I do it at once?
Of course I could try Mitrotacker Green Staining as an alternative if infection and transfection are not compatible... However, this would not be my first choice.
My transfection method is lipofectamine. My virus is adenovirus. My cells are beta cells, INS1.

In general transfection and Infection should be compatible.
I would do the following
Transfect the cells (changing media after 3-4 h)
Allow expression for at least ~8-12 h
Infect
