May I kindly ask for expert assistance with identifying a sea anemone that was bought from commercial sources in the Philippines. The store staff mentioned that this is the purple tip anemone or the white flat sea anemone and a comparison with images available over the internet suggests that this might be Heteractis crispa. The second image (with the purply base) is also suggested as H. crispa? Any comments from anemone taxonomists? Thank you very much in advance?

Wish you had better close up pictures of the anemone. Since the tentacles seem to be of uniform diameter and have bulbous tips with different colour from the tentacles, as shown in the second picture, it probably is Heteractis magnifica.

If you post better pictures others may help to verify it.
I do not believe it is H. crispa since it does not have long tentacles and they are not evenly tapered at the tips. Also H. crispa has more numerous tentacles

Thanks a lot Dr. Tomascik.
We did try to get some better pictures after purchase of the anemone, however, for both cases, they had started to discolor already which made them look very different from their initial state. The two images I posted are actually "different" samples of anemones. I will add a few more pictures of the purple-based one to see if it may be better help in its identification.
