I am running a transient structural analysis for a sudden bump scenario at the front tire of a scooter. My CAD include frame of the scooter, swing arm and the two tires. I am modelling telescopic suspension and rear shock of the scooter as Spring-damper elements (COMBIN14). I need to give loads coming through the roads. I am assuming my tires are rigid bodies and doesn't take part in my analysis. The spring element transfers the loads to the frame and swing arm. But this approach takes too much time and I am not sure as I am doing right in assuming the tires as rigid. So I thought of another approach as to apply loads directly to the spring elements and don't model the tires. But I am not finding any way to apply loads on spring element.
Is it possible to do so? Can I apply load on spring element in WB?
They don't accept surface or body loads, could you model the axles attached to the front and rear suspension as your source of load, or just an element of very finite size.
Thanks Iskandar Vasiev, I already did the same thing as u told. I applied load to the axles attached to the shocks. I modeled the axles with high young's modulus so that they are nearly rigid(as my area of concern should be the frame not the axles). But now I am facing convergence issues.
You want to exclude the axle from any stress calculations all together, so you are not resolving that at every segment. Try designating your axle or whatever structure you do not need outputs from as a rigid body to reduce computing load. You can use TARGE elements, and define a pilot node which controls the degrees of freedom for the body.
