When we kill mice and take their tissues (live, kidney, fat, etc), not cells, we put them in cryogenic tubes respectively and then put tubes in the liquid phase of liquid nitrogen for short-term storage. We need to take tissues quickly, so we don't have enough time to put them in the -80 freezer in time.

After taking all tissues from several mice, we place tubes in the -80 freezer from the liquid nitrogen.

I know that cryogenic tubes are not meant to be submerged in the liquid phase and may explode and cause accidents. But could we put tubes in the liquid phase just for short-term storage?
