In CV026, violacein is inducable by all the short chain AHL and AHT compounds (C4 to C8), with varying degrees of sensitivity. Does the long chain AHL (C10-C14) able to induce violacein production too?
Long-chain AHLs do not activate pigmentation in Chromobacterium CV026. Moreover, due to structural homology, they are able to inhibit the production of violacein in strains grown in the presence of C4-C8 AHLs.
