I will be collecting blood samples from rats (in EDTA-coated tubes) and centrifuging to extract the plasma. My question is: what type of tube should I be using to aliquot the plasma for long-term storage? Would regular microcentrifuge tubes work or should I transfer the plasma to a new EDTA-coated tube?

Hi,
For extracted plasma, it is fine to keep inside normal microfuge tubes at -80 degree for long term storage. I have done this before and after months of storage, the sample was still good to run ELISA and other biochemical assays.
