Incremental Dynamic analysis is basically "Nonlinear Dynamic Analysis". The only difference is that you have to do multiple nonlinear dynamic analyses for a single earthquake motion. By scaling the motion with factors of 1, 2, 4, 8, 10,... and implementing nonlinear dynamic analysis and capturing the behavior of your structure through different intensity measures (PGA, PGV, PGD, Sa,Sd, ...) and Damage measures (Displacement, Rotation, Stress, Buckling, ...). For more information on this, I have some papers that you can read:
@mohammad amin asareh would you please explain the difference between in TIMe history and incremental dynamic analysis??? if time history accelerations multiply by some scale factor then it is IDA ??? please guide me ?
i have done IDA , i have used 13 PGA ( 0.05,0.15,0.35, 0.55, 0.65,0.75,0.80,0.90,0.95,1,1.05,1.2,1.3).. and every PGA has 20 earthquake records . i also Get inter story drift ratio (IDR ) for ach record . so i need make IDA curve PGA vS DM ,... so what is the procedure for plotting . is there any specific procedure for plotting??
because i have plot that data in matlab but curve is not good , , so plz explain .. how to plot in matlab ?
Plotting is not a problem. You can plot in Excel or Origin software also.Main thing in IDA is it is computationally expensive,i.e time consuming. So my suggestion is for performing IDA in SAP2000 software is not a good solution ,we have to go for stepping algorithm or Seismostrut software.
@Makki ,IDA curves are not good ? what is your scaling procedure ? what are the curves now , can you attach the copy ? Which software you used for IDA ? How you have measure max.story drift please elaborate it in brief or send in detail to my mail [email protected]
Sir, did you find any way to do IDA in SAP2000 by interlinking matlab and SAP2000 or is there any alternative. Because I work on a workstation where the RAM is quite good, so if there is any automated process in SAP it would be helpful for me to perform at a time.
