You can combine Fruit Fly Traps like Vector 960 available on the market. They are ready to use traps with special attractants to lure the Fruit Flies into the traps and get caught.

Also you can use  CB 80 Pyrethrin Aerosols to kill the adults.   Gentrol Aerosol is an IGR in a convenient aerosol can. An IGR (insect growth regulator) will prevent the complete fruit fly development. This aerosol can be sprayed around possible breeding sources such as, around plants, floor mats, under applicances and into drains.

Thank you for your suggestions but I cannot use any aerosols or IGRs as we are concurrently rearing other fly species in the vacinity. But I will look into the rest. Thank you again.

We use apple cider vinegar or a sugar-baker's yeast-water mixture for monitoring of Drosophila suzukii. These are cheap and more attractive agents.

I guess you are referring to vinegar fly from the family of Drosophilidae as they do not belong to Tephritidae, but the true fruit flies are.

In our countries, any fermented organic materials (rotten bananas) attract loads of drosophilas, expecially when the weather is hot and humid that helps to spread the fermented odour.

Apart from using traps like what you did and suggested by others, you can try hanging yellow sticky board/base (like the one used in sticky delta trap but just use it without the delta trap) from siling or putting them upright on a plank among the waste materials, they will get stuck to the stick materials. This will only help to reduce the numbers not get rid of them 100% as the waste plant, naturally the breeding sites of these flies, as long as the sources are there, they will keep coming to you. The natural predators for these insects are lizards and frogs, but you don;t want these animals to be in and around your waste plants also...
