In pristine carbon nanotubes filled PVDF nanocomposites, the resultant nanocomposite had a giant dielectric permittivity with the value of 3800 at 1 Hz for the composite with MWCNTs content of 12 vol% [16]. It can be seen that the addition of the MWCNTs can enhance the dielectric permittivity of PVDF matrix obviously at low filler content, and the MWCNTs is ideal filler for preparing composites with high dielectric permittivity.
It is well known that the uniform distribution of carbon nanotubes in polymer matrix is an important factor for the appearance of high dielectric permittivity. Many methods just as modified MWCNTs, adding compatible agent et al., were used to improvement the dispersion of MWCNTs. In this work, an environmentally friendly physical method was used to prepare the MWCNTs/PVDF composites. It was found that, after grinding the mixtures of MWCNTs and PVDF powders for 4 h, the MWCNTs dispersed homogeneously on the surface of the PVDF nano grain. An excellent composite with uniform dispersion of MWCNTs was achieved.
