I want to work on some topic of industrial wastes (fly ash/sludges/incinerator ash etc.). As much work has been done and published on heavy metals in several wastes, what type of other work can one do in such wastes except metal analysis?
Also, please do suggest some other wastes that need to be explored. Thanks.
One of the key factors in order to decide your research field is the kind of research aparateus you are having acces to.
In addition to experimental and engineering perspective on this, there is also systematic way of perceiving these issues.

Within the wastewater there several residues that worth attention and research, an important group are the emerging pollutants and endocrine desrruptores.
I think it is an interesting line of research.
for metal analysis there are so many parameters you have to done. like metallic Fe%, SiO2%, LOI% , Al2O3%, amd more................ after that you can proceed further. In Industrial wastes like fly ash from coal and coke power palnts may further utilized in different sectors. Like:Concrete production, as a substitute material for Portland cement and sand
Embankments and other structural fills (usually for road construction)
Waste stabilization and solidification
Cement clinkers production - (as a substitute material for clay)
Mine reclamation
Stabilization of soft soils
Road sub base construction
As Aggregate substitute material (e.g. for brick production)
Agricultural uses: soil amendment, fertilizer, cattle feeders, soil stabilization in stock feed yards, and agricultural stakes
You are right fly ash have all properties which describe by you . but in other manner its more harmful for human and as well as living beings so u can search article related pubic health concern, ...Sludge now use to remove contaminant from water, Incinerator ash have potential to hazard for living being if its not dispose right manner its leads to public health problem and main cause ground water pollution.....so u can search related to public heath issue.

My sensation is that research needs to be done on the concept of symbiosis, i.e the use of the waste of an industry as a resource for another. The concept was born in the 1970' as a part of theoretizations in the field of industrial ecology, and was implemented in various countries, from Japan to Scandinavia. It's present revival as part of reflections on sustainability hasn't been that much explored.
I am personaly interested in the urban declension of the concept
Coming from an experimental and technological perspective you will find many areas of handling of specific wastes and finding use for them as probably your main objectives, as it has always been.
Coming from a systems point of view is however different. You can go with the Industrial Ecology route and see potential industrial symbiotic relationships among others widely discussed in the area. Theres also coming from a mass-balance perspective to see how things flow through societies, cities, ecological systems. Industrial Metabolism is still an ever ongoing study much like techniques of Cleaner Production. Another aspect of systems point of view is looking at the adaptation of industrial wastes/among other waste with ecosystem services.
Then theres ofcourse environmental Modeling?
I think you will need to find out first what you are interested in before going further. Theres a lot you can do here

i am saying all the parameters for fly ash and i know the harmful effects of FA. my opinion regarding the reutilization of FA in different sectors. Agriculture is one of its best utilization specially in India.• Waste treatment and stabilization[edit]
• Fly ash, in view of its alkalinity and water absorption capacity, may be used in combination with other alkaline materials to transform sewage sludge into organic fertilizer or biofuel.
I recommend the use of fly ash in agriculture as:
i. It improves permeability status of soil.
ii. Improves fertility status of soil
iii. Improves soil texture.
iv. Improves water holding capacity / porosity.
v. Optimizes pH value.
vi. Improves soil aeration.
vii. Reduces crust formation.
viii. Provides micro nutrients like Fe, Zn, Cu, Mo, B, Mn, etc.
ix. Provides macro nutrients like K, P, Ca, Mg, S etc.
x. Improves the nutritional quality of food crop.
xi. It acts as soil ant-acid
