You will require Form-1, Form-2, Form-3 and Form-5 along with the Demand Draft of fees amount.

As I can see that you are affiliated with the University in UP, New Delhi Patent office is where you have to submit these documents. You can either visit the patent office in personal or you can send these Forms and DD to New Delhi Patent Office (by speed post only).

It is advisable to cross check all the documents by a registered patent agent or any law firm dealing with patents filing. You can also ask Patent Office to allocate a facilitator for your patent application who can take care of this without charging you any fees.

To avoid wasting a bunch of cash, it would be worth talking, if but for an hour, with a law firm that specialises in patents. If you get the formalities wrong your application may be bounced, so likely worth the investment.

I am assuming you have already drafted your invention specification and claims as prescribed by the patent office.

Offline filling is really easy, you just need to go to the patent office of you region, for you it might be Delhi I guess. People in patent office are really helpful.

Fill the form 1, Form 3, Form 4 and fill the specification in form 2(the first page of specification is form 2). You can get these forms from IP India site (http://www.ipindia.nic.in/form-and-fees.htm).

You can go for provisional filling as it will give you a breading period of 12 before the complete filling.

Patent office accepts cash, no need for demand draft.

If you have not drafted a specification for invention and have no claims prepared yet, you might have to contact a patent agent.

The patent is a techno-legal document. Writing a patent proposal is also a special skill.A scientist/ researcher can prepare a complete patent proposal. We are doing it. But for the first time it is a problem.

You have to study lot to digest the whole matter.

So you can take help of one professional (Patent consultant/ Patent attorney) for drafting and filling of patent. He/she will also monitor the complete process from filing to grant.

For process, procedures and protocols to be followed please do not depend upon generic information in articles or at YouTube as you have been doing so far but consult official Patent Office website (IPIndia.nic.in) or write to Controller of Patents, New Delhi or visit Patent Office located in Sector 14 Dwarka New Delhi. It is very well connected by Metro Blue Line.

Also, you should not ignore consulting IPR Unit located in GGSIPU regarding your intent to file patent application. You may even get some initial clues or support in this way.

Interesting question Mr. Asit from CSIR to ICAR! Well, I thought Mr Munish Kumar in his learning process as a student needs to explore looking from this angle too. In case he finds there is no specific unit designated by this name then the Directorate of Research of the University is to be seen as the Deemed to Be Unit for this purpose.

Director of Research at GGSIPU , Dr. P.C.Sharma, is a man of biotechnology and they are teaching/addressing the IPR issues as well to some extent.
