I need an AAV to introduce channelrhedopsin into glutamatergic neuron. This should be able anterograde tracing all the way to the endings so that the endings can be activated by photostimulation after being sliced.
There are various AAVs and recombinant lines that display anterograde transsynaptic spread features.
AAV1 and AAV9 is commonly used. Also, AAV-CaMKIIα-ChR2-mCherry is common too.
I have also seen in a paper that they have employed AAV2/1-hSyn-Cre-WPRE-hGH (UPenn Vector Core, 2.5 × 1013 GC/mL) into V1 or retina with disparate volumes to indicate the anterograde transneuronal properties of AAVs:
