Can anyone help with mate-pair library preparation?

I am working on SOLiD 5500xl and prepared mate-pair library for human genome. Whenever I tried to prepare a library with insert size ranging 500-600, I faced problems in amplification using streptavidin beads (sterptavidin beads bound library). It worsen especially, if I try to re-amplify the streptavidin attached library later. This never happened in case of mate-pair library with insert size 1200bp or more. Would anybody like to share his experience in this regard. Thanks
