I have prepared the supported Gold nanoparticles of about 5-10 nm in size. These partciles are nicely distributed on the supported host material. This material is quite stable in acidic/basic medium. I would like to test this material/catalyst for the ant reaction which can be performed in acidic medium. Will these Gold nanoparticles stable in this acidic/basic medium? If so then please suggest such reaction.
I think metal nanoparticles are stable in mild acidic medium. but problem is that in aqueous medium gold nanopartcle will get aggregated and if they are protected by organic molecule then they will not be catalytically active
u can deposite these nanopartcle in carbon or some stable metaloxide support, I strong acidic or basic medium they catalytic activity decrease over time.
Pt and Au nano particles are vital role in hydrogen transformation in aromatics and C – C bond coupling reactions. As you mention that Au supported with fine distributions, if it is on SiO2 is more sintering than Al2O3 support, hence acidic condition should be handled prevented condition. In lab scale catalytic reactions, that we can better suggestion with information about acidity and pore size of the chosen material. If the chosen material is medium pore organosilica try this as you mentioned ANT reaction at vapor phase from 200 to 350C. ANT reaction is to be worthy of solvent free condition in slurry phase reaction. Oxidation of Napthalene to pthalic anhydride in vapor phase reaction at 300- 400 C to maintain air flow rate 10 to 15 ml /min also can be done. I am not sure my opinion is any useful for your acidic medium reaction.
Well, Mr. Pradip an antrazene (ANT) hydrogenation over metal supported catalysts are less available as publications. It is an advantage that we can use to investigate for our hydrogenation catalytic study. ANT undergoes stepwise reduction as is shown below in scheme. Take the required amount (300-500 mg) of catalyst packed in vapor phase reactor, and 500 to 1000 mg of anthrazine dissolved in tetraline solvent (depends of your infusion pump volume) and maintain the flow rate of H2 pressure at 130-150 atmosphere, that you can be check at 150 to 350 C for the corresponding hydrogenation products. This reaction has been previously done with rane Ni catalyst, let we check in Au nano particle supported catalyst.
As I mentioned in pervious answer we should know the acid strength of your supported catalyst, if its to be meso porous mordenite, stronger in acidic strength ranges contributed from H/Na/Au as I prescribed the step 2 and 3 may alter the amount of % yield. Hence it is assigned for base condition reaction which involves of much isomers and may possible to cracking of ANT. During the reaction prevention of oxygen is important, because it affect through the side reaction of diels alder selectivity. i dono how to past the simple reaction scheme, if it is not asthetic just considered it in anthrazene, middel aromatic is first step hydrogenation above at 150 C, at 200 to 250 C one of the edge benzen ring get hydroginated, above 250 to 300 C complete hydrogenation of ANT. Its elementary step reaction at elevated temperature.
Hi Pradip, Why don't you try catalytic oxidation reactions? Such as, for instance, the catalytic oxidation of primary alcohols with molecular oxygen; also the conversion of methane to methanol via catalytic oxidation over gold supported nano particles (both very important reactions, the former for fuel cells and the latter for methane utilization as a raw material).
