I am looking for a cell line or cell type, which shows no or very low expression of c-myc. I want to use it as a negative control in PCR. Has anybody checked the RNA expression of c-myc in C2C12 or NIH/3T3?
c-myc is characterized in the reprogramming genes category. so it shows expression in stem-like cells such as stem cells, cancer, and cell lines. however, may primary isolated cells don't show high expression (i am not sure). besides, c-myc protein half-life is around 15 min.
Thank you! I also tried to use isolated RNA from fresh murine brain, however it also showed positive c-myc expression as well as primary cultures of mesenchymaI-like stem cells isolated from fat tissue. I will try RNA from bovine brain this week.
