Dears,
I used 4% PFA to stain in vitro cultured cells for protein staining (Cristal Violet).
No I would like to stain lipid droplets in the cell with oil-red solution.
I thought I will NEED to add a permeabilization agent, but red in publications, people fix just 20min (or even 30min ) in 4% PFA. for example:

I suppose in methanol-free PFA as the alcohol might ruin the lipids but it is not indicated, then I also thought that the polymerized formaldehyde will not be able to penetrate and fix efficiently inside. But they do not add any detergent.
Can anyone give some suggestions ?
Does PFA fix and permeabilize ?
Thanks
