Could anyone please let me know that in phylogenetic analysis how branch length would be in decimal notation ?

Branch lengths are usually expressed in units of substitutions per site of the sequence alignment. so in terms of substitutions observed at particular site should be in Digits (0,1,2,3,...) like 3 subsitutions per site and my result shows one of my branch length with decimal notation 1.559E-3 (0.001559)

Please help me clarify my doubts regarding use of decimal notation and not individual digits number. ,, 0.001559 branch length

How could be 0.001559 substitutions per site? Method used was Maximum liklihood .
