Preferably for the bill. I have read a similar question and one person suggested crayons. Does anyone have experience with this as far as durability, length of application, etc? This is for emerald toucanets during the rainy season. It only needs to last for a week or two if duration is an issue.

I used goash colours on the feathers of the facial mask of shrikes. Worked well for a few days and rubbed off on their own. I attach our paper on the subject. Good luck. RY
I used nailpolish on chick claws (of ones that were too small to ring) but it didn't last more than a week or so, so wouldn't recommend it for your need

Sjurdur, I think the duration of the nail polish would potentially work to a degree I would be okay with. However, I most likely will not be able to see painted nails from the distances I would need; unless I used it to mark the beak, which I do not know how comfortable I am doing that with the other options out there. Thank you for sharing though!
I have used in parrots a stain available in Colombia and its name is Bigen. Its ingredients are sodium perborate, p-fenilendiamina sulphate, cellulose gum, sodium carbonate, M-aminofenol, disodic lauril sulfosuccinate, algine, dermal extract of Sapindus Mukurossi, magnesium stearate, P-aminofenol and fragrance. I have not had any problem with this product adding spots at the pectoral area of the parrots.
Laura: This stain (Bigen) last for a month or more, depending on the weather.
