I am a medical student and I would like to learn more about the statistics involved in medical researches such as the chi square, p value, t test, confidence interval, odds ratio etc. Can anyone guide me as to where to learn that? Or are there any softwares that can help me calculate these?

In Iran, we have several books in persian that we used to study and a lot of workshops to practice. but also there are several english material as well, I think I have some free material in pdf format. also you can download a user manuals from SPSS site.

SPSS is better than Epi Info. However, SPSS might cost a lot of money. If you can not afford SPSS then Epi Info is a good alternative that costs nothing. It is easy to transfer data between Epi Info and SPSS.
SPSS is a very powerful package, yet has a difficult learning curve. If you are doing simple comparisons like T tests, ANOVA, Chi square, I recommend Minitab. It is user friendly, has a free trial period and is inexpensive. It also uses a format that allows copy-paste from excel.

Hi Hassan? The statistical learning is slow and gradual. Most important of all was that you realized the need to learn to use this instrument. Do not be anxious. As for the program, I suggest you get a simple and free one. You can start trying to learn to use the statistical module of an electronic spreadsheet such as Excel.
