I want to calculate the specific surface area of PVP/WO3 nanofibers that are deposited on aluminum foil. As these fibers contain polymer content too So i cant peel off them and want to analyze their surface area while they are on Aluminum foil. But the resulted area will also include the surface area of aluminum foil. How can i know the surface area of nanofibers only.

At this moment I come up with two possible methods for your consideration:
1. Measure the individual Al foil surface. Then the surface area of your WO3 nanofibers can be estimated as the surface area difference between those of the WO3/Al and Al.
2. Dissolve the Al substrate using non-oxidative acids. If I am remember correctly, WO3 is stable in acids (e.g., diluted HCl and H2SO4) while Al will dissolve. Afterwards, collect the remaining product, thoroughly wash and dry it, and measure the surface area.
You can remove the PVP from WO3 nanofibers by dsipersing it in alcohol (e.g. methanol), which should dissolve the PVP. I hope this answer will help you.
