Esteemed journals and publications do not prefer diagrams made in word or PowerPoint. Nowadays they are preferring graphic design softwares like Coral Draw and Adobe Illustrator. So I would like to ask my fellow researchers, which software is best suitable for research-related drawings?
Greetings to you, Mr. Krishna Veer Singh Gurjar. I will suggest you make use of Adobe Photoshop because it is easy and flexible to use likewise it has the incorporation of Corel Draw and Adobe Illustrator (in my opinion) and it believe the software will not give you tough time. Regards.
Krishna Veer Singh Gurjar Krishna, illustrator and coral draw are both mature products and either would be suitable. I agree with Ayomide, Photoshop compliments both product because it eases the use of photos and makes edits to illustrations easier too. --- You should arrange training in both illustration applications. You'll encounter a significant learning curve you've never used them. Even the language used to describe illustrations, the digital tools and exporting files for print vs digital publication will be unusual. --- One other suggestion, drawings and diagrams made in Word and Power Point have been used for a long time. You should ask why they prefer these applications. The usual reason to use Corel and adobe is the files create clear and smooth line and color independent of later changes to scale.. -- The publications may have standardized for print/digital publication on on the Adobe / Corel apps for technical reasons and not the quality of content. In that case you can export PDF, TIFF & JPG files from Word and Power Point. They might be suitable for the publications (especially PDF)
Greetings, I suggest you used either of them because both Adobe Illustrator and CorelDraw are vector-based illustration software, developed to deliver fast results and to meet the demands of our graphic designing professionals and since the drawings will be exported to word or PowerPoint after drawing so you maintain the quality to avoid pixelation when exporting. Either one is fine. For a new user both require significant learning time***. By the use of non-pixel based line, shape and color both will maintain detail and uniform color at any scale with commercial printing. There are comparable open-source products. If you mix photos with drawings you should work at printer-resolutions (pixels per mm or inch). This is where Photoshop or comparable products work well. ***I suggest taking an introductory course in any of these applications.
