I would like to know which could be the differences (in terms of solubility or visocosity) of a dissolution of TiO2 in ethanol or in 2-butanone.
I see that solvents are similar, but the behavior of the TiO2 in dissolution is quite different in both solvents.
Any ideas?

It is a very interesting question. Well, ethanol can form hydrogen bond with the surface hydroxyls of titanium dioxide and this adsorption will be preferential.
In the case of 2-butanone, the adsorption can be achieved by two ways: By the pair free electron of oxygen and by the double C=C.
Because of the valence of Ti4+ C=C and O of butanone will adsorbe easily.
Maybe for this reason you will see a diferente behavior in both solvents (solvation).

Well, the solvents are not similar at all. One is small alcohol and the other is a little bit bigger cetone. That said, the alcohol tends to interact more with TiO2 particles than the cetone by the intense hydrogen bonds Julián told you.
However, none of the solvents can dissolve TiO2, organic solvents are not the best for dissolving ceramics, if you want a solution, strong acids are better..
Thinking about true solutions, from colloidal systems, to disperse your material I'd expect the alcohol to form suspensios that last longer than the cetone, but without adding any stabilizer, your TiO2 will aggregate and precipitate again within few minutes
Jose Antonio Reglero Ruiz Do you mean "dissolve" or are you trying to disperse TiO2 particles? TiO2 is commonly used as a pigment in many organic liquid based colloidal products, so trying to prepare a solution seems odd to me.
