I would like to use a "natural" axon based co culture model to study remyelination and lysolecithin induced demyelination. However, I do not have access to some popular cells lines that are used for this purpose: dorsal root ganglion explants, spinal cord explants, and motoneurons.

Would SH-SY5Y neuroblastoma cells from human bone marrow (https://www.atcc.org/products/all/CRL-2266.aspx ) be able to play the role of the axon when co-cultured with s42 (https://www.atcc.org/products/all/CRL-2942.aspx )schwann cells from the sciatic nerve of rats?

I plan to differentiate the SH-SY5Y cells with retinoic acid to make them more neuronal like.

I would appreciate any suggestions as to common cell lines that I could use for this remyelination and lysolecithin induced demyelination model and option for differentiating cell lines to be more neuronal like.

Thanks in advance!
