Currently, I use the protocol of Ficoll in order to obtain PBMCs from the whole blood colected from the donors. I would to know if there are alternative ways to isolate PBMCs.
Percoll have the same purpose? What's the difference between them?
I haven't personally used percoll but it is meant to have the same function as histopaque or ficoll. They are all used for density gradient centrifugation. I hope this helps.
Both Percoll and Ficoll are same. And, we're using Lymphocyte Separation Medium (LSM) from brand MP biomedicals. So, almost all these has same method in principles.
for PBMC isolation your are different density gradients on the market. They use all high-mass, hydrophilic polysaccharide. Ficoll is a trademark of GE. There are other like Biocoll, Leucoprep or Lympho-Spin. They all work simelar but differe in price and yield :-). Best Michael
