10 October 2015 12 240 Report

From 1987 to now 2015 the choices have been sustainable development or sustainability; and I thought then that sustainable development was going to succeed in the short and longterm, but not in the very longterm as it provides  two things: a) a way to fix the economy model step by step as they said fixing the load on the dunkey as we travel; and b) it provides what those running the process love, ambiguities.

In the very longterm I thought the concept of sustainable development will fall as the longer the concept is used the more the social and environmental consequences will rise as it is the wrong model to use.  Does today's social and environmental situation indicates we are getting there now, earlier than expected?

Years ago when the World Bank was discussing land use as policy through an internet conference I suggested to president to use the concept of "land sustainability"as the neew policy tool of the world back, but it went no where.

Can you imagine what would have happen if the Rio Process would have been focused on sustainability, and not sustainable developmnet when established?. Are we affraid as individuals, governments, and international organizations to use the concept of sustainability to face the economic, social and environmental issues of today?.  What do you think?
