We are infecting Vero cells with tripomastigotes of T. cruzi and want to evaluate the role of Tumoral Necrosis Factor in the invasion process. Vero cells are easy to mantain and are receptive to the parasite and, for this reason, we can probe on them before than in primary cultures of macrophages.

Vero cells are able to elaborate low levels of cytokines such as IL6 and TNF, which can be stimulated by certain factors, for instance peptides. Here is the link to an interesting report.
