A type 1 diabetic woman asked me the following question: 4 other relatives of mine also have type 1 diabetes (2 brothers, nephew, father, several of his siblings died at the age of about 30) and my husband has several relatives with autoimmune diseases (psoriasis, Hashimoto, farmer's lung, allergic asthma). My two healthy daughters (3 and 4 years old) are now supposed to go to kindergarten. In Germany, children are only admitted if they are either vaccinated against measles or have a vaccination certificate of fitness.

Are there valid scientific studies on whether measles vaccination in such multiplex families represents an even higher risk of manifesting type 1 diabetes?
