I've read from several papers that sunflower plants are cumbersome to work with when it comes to Agrobacterium mediated genetic transformation, albeit there are many protocols developed, but not just yet very efficient. Many works on stress biology related wild sunflower genes have been performed on Arabidopsis, nonetheless, not directly tested on domesticated sunflower varieties. Are there any studies performed by developing improved and tolerant transgenic sunflower lines, if I've missed any?
