I do not think that there is a strong affinity between beauty and character . I do agree with Dr. Segun Michael Abegunda that in many cases beauty leads to arrogance and pride.

All those I haven't been able to answer until now:
I find our exchange of experiences very fruitful, because everyone has their own life experiences, which are in their value completely equal. I think it is good if the "belief in the good in man" is still present, and the "mask" with which many people in high positions, who appear a lot in public, tend to embellish their habitus, plays no role for us. But for many simple people, who simply believe what authorities say, the appearance of social idols plays a role (because they believe that such men must be also confident and have a good character) - no matter if "beautiful" football players advertise aftershave or beer - or if financial brokers on TV tell us that they necessarily want Bitcoins (or something else) for their saved money - and earn on it, even if the product is completely worthless.

First off: physical appearance and character are in no way connected by nature. It would be like expecting red cars to be faster.
Secondly: even if there is no connection to looks and character by nature, character can be influenced by experience and upbringing and therefore as a result certain looks might come with certain (learned) characteristics. This heads into the direction of what has been pointed out before by Segun Michael Abegunde and Hazim Al Dilaimy . People with good looks (according to generally accepted standards that dominate our perception of beauty today) might have been influenced by it in a mere negative way, or in other words: especially very beautiful people might have negative traits and character, whilst others without the looks might have learned to make up for it with character, so it might actually be the other way around.
Thirdly: I believe that we might be heavily influenced by modern pop-culture. Hein Retter has already pointed out that certain types are used playing the good guy in Hollywood movies and certain types used playing the bad guy. There is no way we could leave that aside. We all have seen it and it is working our subconsciousness.
Fourth: my personal approach. I do pay a lot of attention to people's expression. If eyes and facial expression of a person are sympathetic as compared to one who isn't but fits the general idea of beauty, I'd rather ask the first for directions. Also if you were on a party with a wild mix of people and you'd start talking to a number of them, wouldn't you quickly realize that the beauty in the room is vain and not nice to talk to, but the short bubbly person next to her is fun to be around?
In the end good looks might help, but if its the only thing there is to it, it won't help.

Also Avicenna and later in Spain Averroes with his Arabic connections had great influence in philosophy and in Christian Middle Age philosophy. I fully agree with Catia. In fact, the importance of "form" depends very much on the field (sector). Certainly in medicine also the form is very important (patient confidence, placebo effect, etc.). In fashion it is absolutely the form the most important factor as well as in communication, in advertising, etc.. In the exact sciences, substance matters much more than form. Eternal love relationships can exist only if form and substance have the same weight (same importance).

Yes, I have often thought about the fact that I never had a friend whose friendship accompanied me through several stages of my life. They were and are only friendships - albeit very cordial ones - within a certain period of my life. I think that this was connected with the change of place, one came into a new world and the old social connections outside the next caregivers faded. Today there is a chance to have friends "from childhood to the grave" through uninterrupted communication in the IT age. Today, however, the friendships that exist mainly through e-communication are never as close and cordial as when you see each other every day and are in face-to-face communication with each other.
I previously replied that there are some evidence favoring association of "success and beauty" in political and business sector. But did not find evidence (paper) about beautiful/smart men?

Isn't the acting president of the USA a beautiful man who makes women's hearts beat faster? Can you tell how good this President is to his people (not to the billionaires!), also to immigrants, and to other countries? In the figure of this President, has not the true, the good and the beautiful developed into an optimal size? Of course, this question can also be understood somewhat sarcastically!

Personally, I question a high correlation between beauty and goodness - with many examples that bear witness to the opposite. But of course, I long for this close connection to exist reciprocally. My thought is: Then I could call myself good, or, depending on my needs, beautiful. Depending on the need to represent one or the other quality, this is almost superhuman, has nearly divine quality. But man is also, as the Bible says, an image of God.

Dear RG colleagues Segun Michael Abegunde , Muhammad Faheem Jan et al, the premise of the question is rooted in psychology and not in philosophy. The ideas is that peoples’s judgement a person’s physical looks is distorted by the knowledge of the subject being good.
Since beauty is subjective to a large extent, there is certainly a shade of positive evaluation of people who we perce to be good to us or to humans in general.
I think there are many injustices in this world. It's hard to look around right now and say that life is entirely fair. But I think how we perceive and react to "the fairness of life" is down to us as individuals. In terms of my own life and my own personal experiences I would say that my life has been mostly fair; I am aware of and acknowledge my privileges.
Yes, beautiful people must enjoy themselves every time they look in the mirror. But life isn't all roses for our wildly attractive friends: according to science, hot people are both bad at maintaining long-term relationships and more likely to get divorced, and their beauty can actually be held against them in job interviews ...even though studies have shown that many attractive people are above-average levels of intelligent.
I suppose that beautiful people are constantly worried about losing their beauty. So all other people could be happy. They have one problem less.
