Correlation between IQ measured by aptitude performances and Academic Performances: it has been observed that Academic grade alone does not imply suitability for work as well as performance; hence the adoption of aptitude performances, yet we evaluate in schools using academic criteria. Shouldn't we research deeply into relevant correlate?
That is an interesting topic. For me it is clear that academic grades alone does not reflect "potential" of a scientist.
Moreover, I really think that couple of parameters are influencing a lot "performance" but can not be included in a "simple IQ test" as:
- motivation to get graduated
- competition between student
- familial problem causing concentration troubles
- time availability (like earning money in extra of their academic life)
- accessibility of information (book or internet accessibility)
And I am sure that I am forgetting other.
For me it will be difficult to correlate IQ and academic grade: how for example including in calculation that a student is working 20h a week and make a correlation to academic impact.

Hello Owolabi, there is a good textbook on the favourite links page of my website and there are sections on correlations. regression, and you can do a GLM and put the other factors and covariates along with iQ into the model. I agree with points above that IQ alone is not the only important factor in academic performance or outcome. I know at times myself while I may have the ability I feel time poor as I'm Mum''s faxi etc so hence a poor research output so put all these factors into the model and check for confounding and interaction.
