A big problem which municipalities are currently challenging with is to manage municipal solid wastes in the current Corona-virus polluted conditions. What approaches do you suggest? What experiences do you have in your home cities? Please name your cities if possible.

The experience we have in Moa, in the Holguín province comes from the collaboration that we had many years ago with a German non-governmental organization, called the Local Human Development Project that taught citizens to classify waste. The organics were used to make compost that would later be used in an organopónico that the institution itself financed where fresh vegetables were produced. Solid waste was sold to a local raw material company. I think that the ideal is to link citizens directly with the management of urban solid waste so that they participate in its management and receive a direct benefit from the project. This is the most practical example I see for small municipalities with low levels of industrialization in the processing of urban solid waste.
