Any suggestions for neuronal transfections?

I am currently culturing hippocampal neurons isolated from E18 rats and grown in Neurobasal medium (not the plus version) supplemented with B27 Plus. I transfect these neurons around DIV9 with Lipofectamine 2000 and used to get mostly neurons transfected. However, lately I am seeing more glia transfected with little to no neurons transfected even though there are clearly neurons growing on the plate. I've tried different plasmids, fresh media, etc... but to no avail. Would anyone have any suggestions as to why this may be an issue?
