I would like to measure and compare the cognitive skills of students from two different high schools . Unfortunately, I can't get their test scores. So, am thinking of administrating a cognitive test to measure their cognitive skills. Am thinking maybe critical thinking test or IQ TEST.
Do you have any suggestions of short tests (30 minutes) that can be used in schools settings ?
1) Find the curriculum of the specific grade.
2) Ask the teachers to tell you in which chapter they are in every subject.
3) Create your own tests.
Every country follows different curriculum. If you follow the steps mentioned above, you will have a realistic concept of their cognitive level and you could compare them with other schools in the same age. IQ tests don’t show the cognitive progress.
If you create your own test, pilot it and establish validity/reliability. A tall order. Go back to your purpose and then search a repository of assessments.

Achieves required learning (7-8.99 points)
Close to achieving the required learning (4.01-6.99 points)
Does not reach the required learning (≤ 4 points)
It depends on the nature of each science that the student is expected to learn.
Respected Sir , I suggest you go for critical thinking test, personally i feel IQ is far to create logic skills, first go with two groups and different test such as Group A IQ test and Group B Critical thinking test , test the impact, decidr the final training with iq or CTS. Give a test that relate to the subject matter and make students: discuss to infer; expose students to self reasoning approach or you can use think -pair -share.

I would suggest a test which includes subjects for you to discuss and infer students answers so you can base their skills related to the test
To evaluate, the cognitive knowledge, all depends of the subject and what are you need to value in It. Knowledge, habilities or atituds. For example in mathemátics we can evaluate a process, in a lenguage the speaking, or writing, un history a debate on annalise a a history case. To value the cognitive habilities with MOCA (Montreal cognitive assessmen) etc. Is recommended to use an instrument as a rubric, A checklist, etc. To be more accurate un the resuls.
